Photos from one of the most beautiful Saturday's, I wish I was small enough to curl up in the big-bellied pink one and fall asleep. I ended up buying two Paphs! :}
These are to die for...the photos and these beautiful orchids. I really wish I owned a few, but some reason they seem so delicate and they scare me a bit!
Ok, those are drop dead gorgeous. I think that's as good a motivator as any to go searching for some orchid illustrations. Thanks Elly. ..curl up....and sleep And be digested? Don't they prey on meat? Or is that just the flytraps?
Are orchids carnivorous? As far as I know they aren't but you are right about them being edible! The Vanilla orchid also provides us cake bakers with the Vanilla bean.
There is a gorgeous carnivorous plant called Nepenthes that I'm sure you could find beautiful illustrations of. I think they're equally as beautiful as the flytraps... if not prettier!

So beautiful! I love the one with the purple dots, looks like an art deco piece.
Jessica, don't let their appearance fool you, there are species of Orchids that are very easy to look after and house friendly!
In general Paphiopedilums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paphiopedilum) and Phalaenopsis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phalaenopsis) are easy to grow.
